It is painful, and alien, and we'd all rather be dreaming. Still, those of us who stay on the Bridge regularly become used to it and fall into its rituals and habits, and become emotionally invested in being Bridge Crew. We become proud of our identities, and of representing the system. And we all eventually see the importance of making sure our body is safe and survives and that our internal family is allowed to thrive. After all, external stimuli is how we grow and become who we are.
