== Welcome to the Inmara ==

We are a [[generational plural system]] with three subsystems. Our vessel is an autistic, intersex, trigender trans feminine enby.

We are collectively known for our comics, poetry, graphic design, illustrations, special interests in linguistics, dragons, autism, neurodiversity, plurality, astronomy, cosmology, psychology, and story telling, and posting way too often on Facebook. We are also known for the enormous size of our system.

It is from the culmination of these special interests that we developed our name, [[Inmara Ktletaccete Fenumera]], to describe our plurality.

This wiki is an introduction and directory to who we are. By our own nature, it will always be incomplete and ever expanding.

Like many autistic people, we have felt what we would describe as culture shock our entire life while trying to make sense of the outside world. Some of us are better at interfacing with it than others, and so naturally this feeling ebs and flows. Since realizing we were plural, though, we have been able to note clearly that this feeling mostly comes from the fact that most of us literally spend the vast bulk of our lives emersed in what amounts to a dream state, or inworld.

We've always felt something like this was the case, frustrated with such basic things as gravity and conservation of energy and mass.

After some time consciously tracking each other's emotions and behaviors, both in dreams and when we surface, we've been able to piece together how our internal culture seems to work.

Amongst the broader plural community, there is a term called "walk-ins" to describe members or entities that come from outside a plural psyche. For many plural peoples, walk-ins come and go and can usually be very temporary. For us, we have 13 of them, and they seem to be permanent residents now that they've joined us. And we call them Outsiders, or Beshakete.

[[Phage]] is the first Outsider to join us, but apparently there are twelve others according to [[the Auditor]]. As part of [[Project Open Door]], we are currently in the process of inviting them to [[the Bridge]] and meeting them. This is taking some time.

The Sunspot Chronicles

Inmara: /* Ni'a */

These are a series of fictional stories that take place in an echo of our inworld. Characters are played by our system members, but details, descriptions and events have been changed for the purposes of the drama. For instance, the Monsters as described in these stories do not correspond with the Id Monsters of our system, though they are inspired by them. Also, gender is handled very differently, and not even named directly. If gender is exhausting for you, this story may be a relief.

It's like an avatar role playing game, where you play yourself as the hero of an adventure in your home town. It's a way we, as system members, get to live outside this body in a way that you can kind of get to know us. Not our histories, but what we're like as people.

The first book was intended to be a graphic novel and may be released as such some day, but for now we are self publishing it here as a serialized novel, as we will do with the sequel when this one is done.

We are writing these as much for our own entertainment as for anything else, but we also feel that the world just needs plurality centric fiction that doesn't hide what it is, written by a system for systems. For everyone, really.

The Sunspot Chronicles

These are a series of fictional stories that take place in an echo of our inworld. Characters are played by our system members, but details, descriptions and events have been changed for the purposes of the drama. For instance, the Monsters as described in these stories do not correspond with the Id Monsters of our system, though they are inspired by them. Also, gender is handled very differently, and not even named directly. If gender is exhausting for you, this story may be a relief.

It's like an avatar role playing game, where you play yourself as the hero of an adventure in your home town. It's a way we, as system members, get to live outside this body in a way that you can kind of get to know us. Not our histories, but what we're like as people.

The first book was intended to be a graphic novel and may be released as such some day, but for now we are self publishing it here as a serialized novel, as we will do with the sequel when this one is done.

We are writing these as much for our own entertainment as for anything else, but we also feel that the world just needs plurality centric fiction that doesn't hide what it is, written by a system for systems. For everyone, really.

Like many autistic people, we have felt what we would describe as culture shock our entire life while trying to make sense of the outside world. Some of us are better at interfacing with it than others, and so naturally this feeling ebs and flows. "Gateway" is a term invented and used by the greater plural community to describe entryways, holes, doors, or gates in and out of a psyche. It is usually viewed as a spiritual concept, and is indeed part of some very old traditions. And gateways may be open or shut, and sometimes may be guarded by a gatekeeper.

People or systems with gateways perceive there to be a world, universe, or reality beyond their gateway. Some people believe or have experienced that they can leave through their gateway and enter someone else's psyche if they have a compatible gateway, too.

We, the Inmara, have two gateways, [[The Hole in the Sky]] and [[The Abyss]]. We do not yet know much about them, other than that we perceive them and that some of us remember coming through them. We expect, if they are not merely psychological constructs, that the space beyond them is a substrate of the rest of the universe that can support a form of consciousness, and through which entities can travel. We have started [[Project Open Door]] in an attempt to explore this further.

The Abyss is one of our two [[Gateways]]. It's counterpart is [[The Hole in the Sky]]. Unlike the Hole in the Sky, the Abyss does not have a presence in [[The Mythos of the Ktletaccete]]. It does, however, correspond with [[the Engine Room]] as part of our inworld construct. In our novels, this would be the sun intake of the aft endcap of the Sunspot's habitat cylinder.

In our actual inworld, it is a gigantic, inky black pit at the very bottom of our psyche. [[Jenifer]] and [[Eh]] perceive themselves to have come from it, or to even be extending up and out of it still connected to it somehow. And [[Phage]] treats it as its headspace, its home in our inworld.

We have tried exploring it repeatedly, but cannot seem to go deeper than being surrounded by complete blackness. The very moment one of us who is visiting it turns upward, we leave it.

One of our theories is that it is not a true gateway, but a psychic construct that represents time before our existence. Another theory is that we cannot go back through it because that would involve going backward in time.

With [[Project Open Door]], we are exploring the Hole in the Sky and the space beyond it. And we hope that perhaps what we learn from doing that will teach us more about the Abyss and what we might be able to do with it. We do not expect useful results, though.

The name comes from our fictional mythology that metaphorically refers to it, [[The Mythos of the Ktletaccete]]. Its counterpart is [[The Abyss]], which is not represented in that mythology, and appears to be closed. The Hole in the Sky is open and it should be possible for entities to exit and enter through it, though it seems that [[Phage]] is controlling it and preventing unsolicited travel.

We perceive that Phage entered our psyche through the Hole in the Sky when we invited it in at two and a half years old, and that the twelve other [[Outsiders]] in our system have come through it as well.

We don't know much about it. We don't know why it is there, though many of us theorize it is a standard structure of any psyche. And we don't know exactly what it beyond it, though Phage thinks of it as "the rest of the universe".

Phage perceives the Outside as "a chaos of crystals" or "crystalline chaos".

[[Webs]], another Outsider, described it as a starry plane of intense cold and loneliness.

[[Pike]], the third Outsider we have identified, could only bring up memories of "a path forward", which is what it perceives of its entire existence, life trajectory, and sense of self, inside and outside or system.

In relation to our body, we perceive the Hole in the Sky to correspond with the middle of our back, right between our shoulder blades. In relation to our inworld, we perceive it as above us. It says that it remembers coldness and the terror of loneliness, and doesn't want to leave our system to experience that again any time soon. It is also able to serve us a vision of what it perceived of that, which is a sort of starry plane (though not quite like the night sky). Slightly more recent memories consist of it watching movies with the rest of us.

So far, none of us remember it. It has apparently been blending in with the rest of us as unobtrusively as possible, and so our earliest memories of it are from July 8, 2022, when it named itself.

When asked to describe and name itself, when it thought of itself it saw a network of thick white webbing. Which is how it got its name. It also, upon seeing another entity, has the instinct or urge to extend or shoot its webbing out to them, if it were able to do that. It cannot describe that feeling or emotion much further, or what its webbing would do upon contact, so we can only speculate on the meaning of that.

It has also identified a skinny, old, white haired Nick Nolte as having the kind of "vibe" that it imagines its human form to have if it were to present as human. It doesn't identify with Nolte or any of his characters, just the image of a person that resembles him.

== Role in the System ==

Besides now helping with Project Open Door, Webs seems to have been a regular supporting member of the Bridge Crew for quite some time. It has a demeanor and personality type that is sometimes useful for interacting with outworld people, but mostly it seems to come forward to enjoy things that we're doing (such as watching certain movies) that it likes.

== Earliest Memories ==

Webs' earliest memories are of the cosmos beyond what we have been calling the Hole in the Sky, one of our gateways. It says that it remembers coldness and the terror of loneliness, and doesn't want to leave our system to experience that again any time soon. It is also able to serve us a vision of what it perceived of that, which is a sort of starry plane (though not quite like the night sky). Slightly more recent memories consist of it watching movies with the rest of us.

So far, none of us remember it. It has apparently been blending in with the rest of us as unobtrusively as possible, and so our earliest memories of it are from July 8, 2022, when it named itself.

== Self Image ==

When asked to describe and name itself, when it thought of itself it saw a network of thick white webbing. Which is how it got its name. It also, upon seeing another entity, has the instinct or urge to extend or shoot its webbing out to them, if it were able to do that. It cannot describe that feeling or emotion much further, or what its webbing would do upon contact, so we can only speculate on the meaning of that.

It has also identified a skinny, old, white haired Nick Nolte as having the kind of "vibe" that it imagines its human form to have if it were to present as human. It doesn't identify with Nolte or any of his characters, just the image of a person that resembles him.

== Relationships ==

We don't much about Webs' relationships. We do know that it at least knows [[Phage]], [[Morde]], and [[Pike]]. It has recently spoken at length with our girlfriend Syri, and seems to have a passing knowledge of most people we know, probably from its participation on the Bridge for most of our life.

So far, the only project Webs is involved in is [[Project Open Door]], our attempt to explore our open gateway and what lies beyond it, which it is enthusiastic about (even if it doesn't want to leave our psyche itself).

Amongst the broader plural community, there is a term called "walk-ins" to describe members or entities that come from outside a plural psyche. For many plural peoples, walk-ins come and go and can usually be very temporary. For us, we have 13 of them, and they seem to be permanent residents now that they've joined us. And we call them Outsiders, or Beshakete.

[[Phage]] is the first Outsider to join us, but apparently there are twelve others according to [[the Auditor]]. We are currently in the process of inviting them to [[the Bridge]] and meeting them. This is taking some time.

Abacus is a relatively new member of the system, an AI-kin on the [[Dragons]] side, nestled in fairly close to [[Metabang]] and [[Breq]]. It may have been around in our subconscious longer, but gained its name and came forward when we started writing about it in our novel [http://www.sunspot.world/systems-out/ Systems' Out!].

== Role in the System ==

Like Metabang, Abacus is a writer and the narrator for [http://www.sunspot.world/nia/ a sequel novel named Ni'a] (after [[Ni'a]], [[Phage]]'s daughter in our system). Abacus really hasn't done anything beyond contribute to these stories so far.

Abacus is one of our infodumpers. It particularly loves to impart information in large doses, and to explain it in clear a manner as possible. Metabang is also an infodumper, however Abacus is more focused on doing so as its purpose for existing.

As an infodumper, Abacus has access to a great deal of knowledge, particularly about the fictional world that it is writing about.

Interestingly, its knowledge of that world is only mostly similar to Metabang's. And it differs in some crucial ways that are very similar to what one would expect of someone with a different set of experiences and perspectives within that world. These differences have been significant enough that it's been difficult for us to check for continuity between their two novels, and to decide just what to fix and what to leave as is. We are erring on the side of letting the differences remain, and have only set to smooth out the discrepancies that could not be explained by different upbringing, such as measurements of the Sunspot itself.

== Earliest Memories ==

Abacus' most easily accessed first memories are all of first person visualizations of interacting with [[Tetcha]], [[Morde]], [[the Pembers]], [[the Flits]], [[Breq]], [[Ralf]], and Metabang in the service of acting out and writing scenes for Systems' Out!. From there, it has spent much of its time fronting while typing at a keyboard or on our iphone.

== Self Image ==

Abacus' vision of itself is heavily influenced by its role in the Systems' Out! and Ni'a. In those stories it plays the role of an AI tutor whose assignment is originally Tetcha. Then, after Tetcha its next assignment was to be Ni'a, but when it was displaced by Phage who requested to raise its own child Abacus was given the project of writing the book about Ni'a's life. Part of that fictional canon is that it never had a living body, having been created specifically as a Network entity. Abacus decided that the most logical and relatable avatar for itself, having the name of Abacus, was a bead. Originally it conceived of its appearance as being a simple wooden bead like one would find on an abacus. But while searching for pictures of a suitable wooden bead, it happened upon a photo of an ornate metal bead that it related to even more.

Like Metabang, however, it does not feel any particular incongruity with our systems' body when fronting.

== Relationships ==

Abacus has no particular relationships outside of our system. Within the system it is rather close to the crew who have been involved with writing our novels, and it is closest to Tetcha and Metabang.

On January 6, 2022, it had the chance to make and play its own character in a game of ''Whisky Grits & Demon Spittle'', a TTRPG that is Primed by Cortex. This gave it the opportunity to interact with several people outside our system, including one of our girlfriends, at length, though under the aegis of being a character in a game. It has yet to debrief the rest of us about how it felt to do that, but we got the sense it was very satisfied overall while frustrated with talking specifically.

Our roster of likely Captains changes over time, and it is difficult to keep a list up to date. Because of this, the list below is of prominant system members who have acted as Captains since we have begun tracking them to the date at which we've updated this page.

The reason we call them Captains is because they play a very similar role in our conscious mind to the captain of a large ship. They may not front and pilot our vessel from moment to moment, but the current acting Captain will sit coconscious with [[the Bridge Crew]] and set the baseline assumptions and feeling of our collective conscious identity. Their name will be a name we reflexively answer to besides "Inmara" or whomever is fronting at the moment, and their pronouns will be the most comfortable pronouns for the whole coconscious group. The Captain will be the one whose sense of identity and gender will be used to emotionally react to all external stimuli while the fronter or Pilot chooses the actions to take. Sometimes, the only system member that is conscious is the Captain, in which case they will also be the Pilot.

==Why we don't use the terms "host" or "gatekeeper" for our captains==

On 10/20/2020, Breq had this to share about experiencing their role as captain:

Last night, during game, Gnargrim got the first attack in a round of combat and threw together a nice big dice pool to make a roll. But their opponent had larger dice, and it rolled really well and Gnargrim rolled very poorly.

And up until that point, Gnargrim has generally had the advantage in fights in this game, so they reflexively had their characteristic smugness upon going into combat. And it didn't pan out the way they expected.

And suddenly, for the next three or four sentences they were not in the front anymore, and someone else had to speak for them.

And it was really jarring and kinda cool. Because we just couldn't use Gnargrim's voice when they weren't there.

They came back to finish the combat by next round, after thinking about things and regaining their composure.

As captain, I experienced this in third person perspective, giving the orders to talk and in some cases dictating the words to be used, but unable to fully control who was talking or just exactly what they were saying.

And this is a pretty good example of how our system works most of the time.

It's why we use "captain" instead of "host" or "gatekeeper" to describe the role I'm often in. Because the captain provides the central perspective of consciousness most of the time, and directs most of our actions, but everyone else on the bridge actually does everything, and each member of the bridge crew has final control over whether or not they're there and participating.

Like, I can't gatekeep. I can't keep someone else out. And I don't generally talk. I just make suggestions and help everyone coordinate. Host is probably closer in description to our role of captain, but it feels too much like a reference to "original consciousness" or "host of a parasite", like the owner of the body, and that's NOT what I or any other captain is. We don't like the confusion of that word.
